ICAD 1,2 and 3

I found out about this group from Leslie.  (thank you so much Leslie!!)

We simply do art on one index card a day....from June 1 to the end of July.   I started "late" and plan to slowly worth through the ones I missed.......

Here are my 1,2 and 3 cards.

ICAD #1 Using Prompt 8: Mandala

Hot pink index card. I am having the hardest time making mandalas....I over think them. So for this one....well, I didn't try to use any particular tangles....just looked at it and drew. This is Micron Markers and a Paper Mate flair marker.

I know it is not necessary to get caught up.....but maybe, since I am retired and home all day....I might be able to work in two a day. Maybe

ICAD #2 Prompt 9 ~ alphabet

Still using neon pink index cards. Why?? Cause in this group I am not stuck with just thinking black and white. <wink>

I wrote the alphabet.....liked we learned it back in the good ol' days. I hear rumors that kids are not going to be taught handwriting in school any more. I wanted to document that "I" like knowing how to do it.

ICAD #3 Prompt 8 ~ paisley

White card, sharpie markers and a wee bit of color pencils. A yin yang paisley.

Day 12....I'm not sure

I admit, it is sort of hard to figure out what she is prompting us to do for the day.  I think this one is to do something about spring.

I did this index card for ICAD #3 - that prompt was paisley.  Seems like it will work out for both of these.  :)

Day 11 - Twinches

Joined a cute group that does 1"; 2" or 3" doodles/tangles.  I am working on my first set of Twinches.   They are black and white for now....considering doing the background in different colors.

I plan to take individual pictures of each one....and use them when I post how I feel about things n FB.  :)

My first RAK doodle

The request was for poppies, anchor or Wizard of Oz.   We are making RAKs for a dear lady who's daughter passed away from cancer.

Daay 10

Day 10 - jump in and do something you have wanted to try.......well.....not sure what to do for this one. Sooooooo, I did a drawing/doodle for my G-girl1. A dragonfly. Markers, color pencils on my usual index card.

Day 9 - get inspiration from the slide show

Whimsy and Zen put all the week's contributions into a nice slide show.  She then asked us to find inspiration from something in the show.  I liked the doodle of the hand.  Here is my version.  "Peace Out"    Kind of makes me think of "Little bunny foo foo, walking through the forest....."

Day 8 - add color

I learned to draw a labyrinth.  Added blue.  Markers, color pencil on an index card.

Heart To Heart

"Heart to Heart"
10x10 on scrap book paper, with a brown pattern.
I have also discovered I totally love to figure out how to weave the parts together.

"Hanging With My Peeps"

"Pretty In Pink"

I didn't like this when I first finished it.  This is my first real attempt at making paisley shapes.  When it was all done, and I could tell it really looked like a flamingo...then it made me smile.

Whimsy and Zen Day 3 - be creative ~ Rainbow Bright

"Rainbow Bright"
9x12 with sharpies
Took over 6 hours to do all the tiny little circles.  Whew.  hehe

Whimsy and Zen Day 2 - blending - From The Heart

 "From The Heart"

Sooooo.  I did a wee bit of blending.  Something I just started learning to do last week at my art group night out.

This is 6x6 on scrap book paper with tiny little hearts on the background.
(started late late late on the 31st....finished on the 1st.  I can't sleep much lately)

Whimsy and Zen Day 1 - Nature

Pug
10x10 scrap book paper with a bluish print.
Used black and dark blue sharpies.

Diva #14 and #15

Diva Challenges 14 - I walk the line.....and 15 I love your curves baby.

Doing nothing but straight ones was kind of boring.  I mean, I liked doing the tangles, just didn't seem like a challenge for some reason.

I liked using curvy/round shapes only...a lot!!  I have to admit...I find I am probably going to be leaning towards flowers on my tangle art.  I like making them.

Challenge #12 "Something Blue"

I loved doing this one!  I love the color blue.  I pulled out some of my scrap book pens and pencils.  What fun.

Diva Challenge #11 Mono-tangle

This is The Diva's Challenge #11 - Mono-tangle.  Use one tangle doing it in different sizes.  I picked "diagonals".    I learned something interesting doing this simple tangle design.  When you do it really small, it is kind of hard to stay in the lines.  : )

Diva Challenge 162 - my initials. TLG. :)

"B" Challenge

Here is my "b" challenge.   There are lots and lots of fun "b" choices.  I am glad I picked up 01 and 03 micron markers.  It sure does help on the 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 cards.

"A" challenge

So ummmmm.....This is my first attempt for the "a" challenge.  I totally screwed up the "all about v".  Yet, I figured it out after two rows. Ha!   I would love to post only perfect tangles.....I figure if I post my actual art as I am learning....I can get pointers and tips and learn to do this much better.    I loved doing the aura knot.  It looks cool.

#161 Quandary

Looks like I can't draw a piece of rice, to save my life!  My brain and hand both felt like I needed to be making this zentangle like a flower petal.  I shall have to keep making it till I can do it without it being so hard.  : )

Challenge #10 "The Space Between; Exploring white space"

We are to leave white space.  I asked hubby if I should add another leaf behind the main one....he said no....leave the white space.  :)

I did my best to pick and design the leaf in a way to leave as much white space as possible.

"e" Challenge

Okay!  Here is the one for the "e" challenge.  I found the e designs on tanglepatterns.com.   I have not used or tried to do any of this until this challenge.  So thank you for prompting me to step up and have some fun.

#8 Create a heart-using two previous challenges

Let's start off with the fact...I misread this.....and made my tangle. Ha.  I seemed to think it said to make "two" hearts...Not create "a" heart.

Then my mind said....using previous challenges.  Okay, got that part correct, at least.

I went for "simple", "lxorus", "smile" and two hearts.  Simple little hearts.....cause this is a challenge presented when the Diva's wee baby boy (Artoo, is his nickname) was ill and in the hospital, back in 2010.  My hearts are on the flower to give Artoo a smile from my family to his.

Challenge 7 - Breathe

Okay, so the Diva Challenge was: Relax, Breath, Smile

How the heck do I tangle that??  Ha!  Soooooo....nothing came to mind......which is what was supposed to happen, I imagine.  I put pen to the tile......and this is what I came up with.

Relax ~ the peace sign  (I am an old hippy...hehehe)
Breath ~ the big daisy.  I love Shasta Dasies.....they don't smell good like roses, I guess....but they appeal to me.
Smile ~ people who know me....know I put smile faces on everything.  And.....here they are in the corners of my tile.  : )

Challenge #6 "Ixorus"

The Diva gave the challenge to learn this zentangle design named "Ixorus".  Rick and Maria sent out the Zentangle® Newsletter back in 2011 with this design.   Here is my first attempt.  I used it for the tree, as you can see.   But I also thought it would work as the grass.  Gave it a try and it looks okay to me.

Challenge #5 Orbs

Orbs....not something I am all that good at making look...round.  Not yet, anyway.  I am sure with practice, I will get the nack of it.

Mr Awesome made the suggestion of doing bubbles.  Ah yes!  I love blowing bubbles.  No matter how old I am....I can amuse myself for quite some time blowing bubbles and watching them travel off to unknown territory.

#3 Eyes Wide Shut

Had to draw the string with my eyes closed.  Didn't really like my string....but, well....go with it and see what happens.  The end result was kind of cool.  I am happy with it.
